NORTON ANTI-VIRUS and NORTON INTERNET SECURITY

You can bypass Norton but it needs to be immediately done after you install AceSpy. This page provides a step-by-step of how to bypass Norton Anti-Virus and Norton Internet Security. Your version of Norton might be a little different. But the goal is the same: To add AceSpy's files to all exclusion lists so it won't be scanned.

1. At the top of Norton, click Options > Norton AntiVirus
2. Go to System > Auto-Protect on left side.
3. Go to Other > Security Risks > Exclusions on left side.
4. On the "What known security risks to exclude". If AceSpy is listed there then REMOVE it for now.
5. If AceSpy is not in that list, then go to Step 6.
6. Click OK to go back to the main Norton screen and minimize Norton for now.
7. Install AceSpy from the download URL provided to you.
8. Go back inside Norton and at left side, click Norton AntiVirus > Scans
9. Click "Scan Folders" in the menu.
10a. If you have Windows XP, select C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retina-X Studios\AceSpy\ to scan that folder only.
10b. If you have Windows Vista, select C:\ProgramData\Retina-X Studios\AceSpy\ to scan that folder only.
11. You will then be shown an "ALERT". In the drop-down box, choose "Exclude from future scans." and OK. (See screenshot below)

12. Then you will be shown another warning that Norton found the security risk. You will then see "Manual Repair - Risks" screen. Choose EXCLUDE again in the drop down box. (See screenshot below)

13. After you click OK, then reboot the PC.
14a. If you have Windows XP, then open My Computer, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retina-X Studios\AceSpy\ and click VIEW > DETAILS to see the full file names.
14b. If you have Windows Vista, Go to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders. Then go to Start > My Computer. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Retina-X Studios\AceSpy\.
15. Double-click pidmon.exe to execute the file to make sure the startup entries remain.
16. If you only have the "Anti-Virus" and not Norton "Internet Security", then you are finished.
17. If you have Norton Internet Security, then anytime you turn email logs on our software will need to access the internet. You will then get a firewall alert for "pidmon" or "regsvc". So be sure to click "Test" when you setup your email settings inside AceSpy. Then click "Always Allow" on the firewall message and it won't show up again.
